The Days before the move

As we are now in AZ I thought I would first remark what happened before we moved. This will be from the day we got the truck to the day we took off. My next posts will feature highlights from the actual move. And then I will begin what I hope will be a consistant thing for weekly updates from our move to AZ. Stay tuned!

We got the truck on Saturday, July 10th. We had to get it early as they gave us a 26' truck not a 24' and the place they were having us go to closed at 12pm. So we had to be there by 11:30. What a pain that was. The truck btw was so huge we thought we might have a heart attack. Especially poor Mel who has to drive it the whole way! Oh my. Left Mels car at the lot promising to return for it on Monday and we went home. First we had to get gas and it took us nearly an hour to do so as Mel picked a Kroger gas station NOT built for trucks. Its okay. No scratches, just me having a heart attack standing there thinking oh no NOT again! Last time was a bit of a heart attack too. I have to stand there watch the truck almost hit the gas area, the pole, a person, etc. But in the end and nearly an hour later we finally got the truck home. Due to the fact we were sneaking out of our apts earlier than we told them we parked the truck in the "guest parking" just till the office closed. Went home for a few hours and had a nice nap.

We decided that first day NOT to pack the truck. We did however go and look at it later in the evening and even put my GIANT Curious George in the truck to ride where he wanted. But sadly unlike last time he wouldnt be riding up front with us as the seats are different. The things different abou this truck: its bigger thats 2' bigger we believe not just long but tall. Moms attic is bigger too. Plus the seating room up front is fixed different cup holders are by the driver, the seat in the middle is more slimmer, the area by the feet is bigger. But no area behind us. Our last truck had room behind us where we did stick my giant George. Have to get used to this our new home for the next few days once we leave.

Sunday, July 11th we got the truck early by our place. Sadly I hadnt finished my room so I was packing my room most of the day. But it turned out alright. I did help Mel get stuff in the truck but she spent half the day doing it herself. It was very hot and exhausting. We finally took a break in the evening to go walk and get food at Taco Bell, go to Walgreens to get a money order (which they dont do sadly) and get money for that money order that didnt work out. Then we walked home. Of course it was then that the weather started acting up and it began to RAIN. Not just little rain no thunder, lightning, wind, hard rain. It recked us moving for a bit. We had to keep pausing in our attempts to move stuff as we didnt want to get struck by lightning. But Sunday night we could see that it might be later on Monday we would get the car to go because well frankly the weather wasnt behaving right at all!

Monday July 12th. Yeah. We didnt get to move on Monday. Due to us not being ready for the car yet before they closed we had to keep going and not be done. We told them we would be there early on Tuesday for the car. We didnt know that the weather would keep us at home even longer than planned. We needed showers and sleep. But our only few hrs of sleep was done on the floor in the apartment. Not comfortable at all I might add :( We didnt really sleep much but got a bit done. So yeah...and it kept raining too off and on. NO rain for nearly 2 weeks and bam none stop at times just cause we were leaving. The rain didnt want us to go. And did I mention? The truck had a leak in it. So our stuff stood chance to get wet. WE moved containers in the area by the leak and prayed for the best but the weather wouldnt let up.

Tuesday July 13th came and went really easily. Mostly cause we spent all day moving. Our apt manager thought we werent paying rent even though she acknowledged our note few days ago. So she said we need to call her. No we did not. We kept pushing ourselves. We had to finally get the car in the evening with the truck not all done. But it was so close. Got the car finally put on the trailer and got dinner at Jack in the Box. Came back for final things. But in truth we didnt leave our place till almost 3am early Wednesday July 14th.

And thus began our adventures...stay tuned to the next part soon as I can about the trip out here :)

1 Week till we leave

We are nearing that final finish line and this race we've been running for just about 2 months is nearly complete. We have hit a lot of hurdles but in the end our goal has been in mind as God guides and we only follow even if its by the tip of our fingers we reach for the sky. Flying would be so much easier if our wings didnt constantly seem to be broken. But allase we are just flying now again and we have yet to realize that we have flown before.

After all just almost 3 yrs ago we left the state of California and came out to TN. Now our time is up on this location and we are about to take off. The scary thing is how unready I am and so is my sister. Our pets are in a double standard thing. While Rainbow & Maggie get the move. Its Jackie & Rocky who dont cause they never have done this. Uplifting our whole family will be beyond what my mom says she has ever done. But we are brave girls with big hearts and huge dreams willing to follow them wherever they may lead.

Isnt that what faith is all about. You dream big, cause you know God only works things out for good. Then you follow sometimes willing and sometimes not so willing. Well we are a week away from again uplifting our family and taking off.

Our hurdles this week have been great and huge. Including we told the postoffice that we would be moving and to start forwarding mail on the 12th of July. Only for them to make a mistake and think we meant July 1st and they started forwarding it. We are now waiting for our mail to circle back around so we will get it before we move. That includes a book my sis bought for the trip gee whiz what is up with that one?

I have so much still to pack. While it seemed fine last week and the week before we are now in the last week and its scary to not be done. I have jobs to apply for, goodbyes to be said, pictures and videos to take. One last CU of course. Oh and I wish my journals were caught up why oh why arent they? Ugh!

Reminding myself this time to take notes along the two or so day trip, to take more pictures, and to blog about it here will be a fun thing I have yet to really get a grip on it. But I am okay with this as a week to go is still not today. But it will be JUST THAT FAST! Cause time flies.

Today it was hard to believe it was our last time at our church. Now we are in our last time at Barnes & Noble and being at The Avenue. Been trying to take pictures and videos and say good byes but its almost too hard to try.

Truth be told we are moving, in 1 week. Its brave, but its trusting God we will get there. With each bad thing comes the blessing to know we are doing the right thing even if Satan himself doesnt want it to happen. Spiritual attacks on anything this big (once again) is a true given in our lives.

1 week to go till FAIRWELL TN!

11 Days to go till the move

There are just 11 days till we leave for AZ from TN. It will be a very exciting but scary journey. I am worried about a lot of stuff but trying to just be okay and just constrate on packing. We have gained SO much from this move. I could include this in my future TN memoir maybe something side stepped back. Why are we moving? Cause its not working anymore! When we first moved out here no idea what we were doing, no jobs and nothing holding us here we began to make it work. Only recently did I come to see that 2008 wasnt so crappy it was our BEST year out here! Despite the bad allergies we had for 4 months, and we lost both my hamster & my aunt Carol. But its not working anymore. I cant wait to be able to spread out my stuff and relax and not think about tornados coming to tear our stuff apart. You have NO idea how scary that is. Its not way why we are moving. But being so close to our family again will be such a huge blessing. We are both single and no reason to stay nothing is holding us here. Not jobs, not internships, not school and not guys for sure. Well enjoy these. I will blog on the road whenever I get some wifi. Or do it when we get there.
